Recently, more logistics projects have been put into operation, which have well performed basic functions such as warehousing, collection and distribution of goods for service in Industrial Parks (IZs) and neighboring provinces. .
For many years, with specific and consistent guidelines and policies, BRVT province has been recognized and evaluated as a leading locality in exploiting potentials and marine resources to develop the economy, bringing many benefits. positive results. In which, the province has closely followed the actual situation, promoted and effectively utilized the outstanding strengths of the locality at the same time, make the most of and effectively use all domestic and foreign resources to build socio-economic infrastructure, especially the traffic system connecting the seaport system with national highways, in order to quickly quickly turn BRVT into a major regional and international seaport and logistics service center.
Accordingly, the province has investors to develop the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port system to become the first deep-water seaport of Vietnam and the 19th port in the world to receive super-large mother ships with large tonnage up to 194,000 DWT. Currently, in BRVT province, there are 48/69 ports in operation, with a total designed capacity of 155.7 million tons/year; including 7 large container port projects with a capacity of 6.8 million TEU/year. To promote the seaport system, BRVT province has mobilized investment capital to develop transport infrastructure connecting deep-water ports, connecting road and sea traffic with provinces in the southern key economic region.
In addition, in order to "take advantage" of the seaport system, the province plans and builds a system of industrial parks (IZs) associated with seaports. Up to now, BRVT has 15 industrial zones, with a total area of 8,510ha. Many investment projects are being implemented, including: Hyosung Group's PPP factory and LPG storage facility with an investment capital of 1.2 billion USD; Petrochemical complex in the South with an investment capital of 5.4 billion USD; Long Son Power Center with an investment capital of 4.5 billion USD…
Regarding investment and business development, in the first 10 months of 2022, this locality has attracted and granted 15 new foreign investment projects with a total registered capital of 269.59 million USD; 36 domestic investment projects with a total registered capital of 14,111.2 billion VND; granted new establishment registration certificates to 1,568 enterprises, up 59% over the same period, with a total registered capital of 15,114 billion dong, equaling 75% over the same period; granting operation registration certificates to 207 branches and representative offices; 15 new cooperatives were established… Currently, BRVT has also put into operation 50 ports with a total wharf length of more than 17 km, with an output of 180 million tons/year. Cai Mep - Thi Vai private port cluster has 24 port projects put into operation with a total length of wharf nearly 11km with a total designed capacity of 129 million tons/year, of which there are 8 container ports with a capacity of 8.3 million TEUs /year. Gemalink Port has become the largest port in Cai Mep-Thi Vai deep-water port cluster, contributing to completing the logistics service supply chain of Gemadept Corporation.
According to the master plan on development of Vietnam's seaport system in the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, Cai Mep - Thi Vai seaport will be one of the two special seaports of the country, with the function of a port. gateway, international transshipment port. Over the years, the volume of goods has grown steadily. In 2020, the BRVT seaport industry reached a volume of nearly 113 million tons, including more than 7.5 million TEUs, accounting for 16% of the country's total cargo and 34% of the total container cargo through Vietnam's seaports. BRVT seaport has successfully received one of the largest container ships in the world today with a tonnage of 214,121 DWT, thereby enhancing the position and brand of BRVT seaport and of Vietnam.
From this, it can be affirmed that the seaport system of BRVT province, especially Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water port cluster, is considered to become the seaport center of the whole Southeast region in the future.
