By 2025, ICD( Inland Container Depot) can handle up to 8.7 million tons of cargo

The Vietnam Maritime Administration has just submitted to the Ministry of Transport for appraisal the planning for the development of the inland container depot system in the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 with the goal of gradually forming and developing the inland container depot system on a large scale on the whole country to meet the demand for transporting import and export goods, increasing the cargo throughput capacity of seaports. Up to now, the whole country has invested, announced and put into operation 10 inland container depots, 6 inland clearance ports - ICDs are operating in the locations planned for inland container depot but the investors have not carry out the procedures for converting into an inland container depot according to regulations. ICD ports are distributed concentratedly on 5 corridors and economic zones out of a total of 15 corridors and economic areas with inland port planning. Affirming that inland ports are a part of transport infrastructure, However, it has not been developed for a long time, the leader of the Vietnam Maritime Administration emphasized: The inland port development planning has just been built recently, so the implementation process is still lacking in synchronization with the country. other plannings, especially specialized plans for transportation, land use planning... From here, the specialized maritime management agency clearly states the goal of gradually forming and developing the port system. nationwide in order to meet the demand for transportation of import and export goods, and to increase the throughput capacity of seaports. According to the report on Socio-Economic situation of the General Statistics Office, in the first nine months of 2022, the total export turnover of goods reached USD 558.52 billion, up 15.1% over the same period last year, of which exports increased by 17.3%; imports increased by 13%; commercialization balance in 9 months of 2022 is estimated to have a trade surplus of  at 6.52 billion USD.
