This morning (October 18), Mekong Logistics Joint Stock Company - one of the member companies within the ecosystem of Gemadept Group, broke ground on phase 2 of the Logistics Center Project in Chau Thanh District, Hau Giang Province. This important project is expected to contribute nearly 100 billion VND to the budget and create stable jobs for local workers.
Phase 2 of the project, with a total investment of 1,350 billion VND, aims to build a modern infrastructure system that optimizes the supply chain for goods. The 4.6-hectare dry goods handling center is equipped with advanced technology to meet diverse storage and transportation needs for various items, including agricultural products, seafood, and consumer goods. Alongside it, a 5-hectare container depot will ensure safety and efficiency in container storage.

A highlight of this phase is the container port with a 200-meter long wharf, capable of accommodating vessels with a deadweight tonnage of up to 20,000 DWT. This container port will open doors to international trade, bringing Vietnamese goods closer to global markets.
The project will connect the Mekong Delta region with international ports through multimodal transport. Notably, Gemadept and Mekong Logistics will promote the development of a model inland waterway transport route using a river-sea hybrid fleet, linking the Mekong Delta center with the deep-water international port cluster of Cai Mep – Thi Vai. Previously, Mekong Logistics effectively operated a cold storage facility with a capacity of 37,500 tons in Chau Thanh District, utilizing renewable solar energy to offset nearly 40% of its annual electricity consumption. This marks an important step in applying green technology in logistics operations, contributing to environmental protection.
